SOLAR - FITS Qualification
The Framework for ICT Technical Support (FITS) is an education industry standard for providing effective ICT support in schools. FITS provides ICT technicians and managerial staff with the key skills to support the staff and learners. It enables better outcomes through more reliable ICT services and also enables a school to get better value for money from ICT.
FITS was initially developed to ensure the effective and innovative use of technology throughout learning. FITS is delivered via the FITS Foundation, an independent body created to professionalise the ICT workforce within education.
The Foundation has worked closely with SQA to create a suite of training materials to provide key skills and professional qualifications for ICT technicians and network managers in schools.These qualifications are as follows:
- ICT Support in Education: Practitioner at QCF Level 4
- ICT Support in Education: Manager at QCF Level 5
Assessments for both qualifications are delivered on line via the SOLAR project. Both of these assessments are multiple choice examinations
