New Functionality to Support Internal Verification

This update applies only to centres that deliver human-marked SOLAR assessments. If your centre delivers only automatically marked assessments (for example, Street Works or Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver), this update does not apply.

Following feedback from centres about the challenges of managing internal verification in SOLAR, we are introducing the following changes:

Currently, assessors must leave assessments unsubmitted so that internal verifiers can access and review them before submission. With the new Moderate functionality, this process will be streamlined. Assessors will be able to mark scripts in the Mark screen and submit them.
The scripts will then move automatically to the Moderate screen, where internal verifiers can access, review, and release them.
After verification, the scripts will move to the Results screen.

This functionality will be available from Monday 20 October. Only those assessments scheduled on or after Monday, 20 October will include this functionality.

As part of this change, we will no longer send reminder emails for unmarked assessments approaching their auto-void date. It remains the responsibility of centres to mark, internally verify and release scripts in SOLAR in a timely manner. You may wish to implement a regular check of SOLAR to ensure any outstanding scripts are marked and verified.

We recommend that SOLAR assessments are marked, internally verified, and released within 60 days of completion.

Guidance on the new Moderate functionality is available on the Centre Guidance page of the SOLAR website, under the section ‘Mark and View Test Results – Internal verification of a test- (human marking).
